Poke (Phytolacca americana) is a "weed" here in America where it's native. (Not so in Europe where it's prized in gardens.) We let it grow in our garden because from the first time we did we began to see cedar waxwings in enormous mobs not just in late winter on cranberry bush viburnum and crabapples but on poke in the fall.
