Move a peony
One: A peony must move, as a bed redesign's given this spot
to another plant. Bloom time's not prime time for a move, but what
the hey!
Two: Place a sturdy stake and
bundle the branches to it for strength in numbers.
Three: Starting at the dripline, dig to find and preserve as
much root as possible.
Four: Trench around the roots so you can undercut the ball
and lift the peony.
Five: Replant the peony in its new spot. Stake the stems.
Cut off the heavy flowers if you can bear to part with them. Water.
Apologize to the plant. It will be fine.
