Half century of planting cut flowers...

Burdette Chapman, formerly Swallow's Nest Farm dried flowers, herbs and sheepskin products, now "retired" in Maple City, Michigan and selling cut flowers at a market down the road.

Forever pursuing something new

Looking through seed catalogs for vegetables and cut flowers for her... 75th?... spring planting, Burdette wants old reliables but also, always something new. "You just got to try it, right?" She says.

The catalog she's using for most of her order this year: Fedco Seeds.

Her reason: "They're just so expensive everywhere, and who needs so many seeds. This one my friend Carol used, and they send you just little bits. You can order, like just a gram of seed. Plus look at all these neat stories in the catalog!"
