Do more with what you grow! We make ornaments for the holiday season from cones, seed pods, interesting stems, nuts and so on, embellished with bits of this and that and held together with string, paper clips and that all-round wonderful tool, a hot glue gun.

The kids love to do this. We have had such ornaments last decades, as treasured as any blown glass globe.

This pine cone needed only a couple of beads, some feathers, a scrap of velvet and a bit of sheep's wool to become Santa.
