PotBoundRoots7873

This young black gum (Nyssa sylvatica) never performed as expected. The leaves were small, sparse and off-color. When the gardener decided to replace the plant we lifted it out and bared the roots for a close look. We saw then that the root mass was still in the shape of the pot. We straightened the roots and cut what we couldn't uncoil, then replanted  the tree in another area to give it a last chance -- too late.
