Martha Ferguson
enlarge this imageMartha Ferguson began her gardening career at the age of 10 in her father's strawberry patch in western Kentucky. She then gardened in seven other States and provinces on her way to the Eden that is Zone 8 South Carolina.
Martha Ferguson is a dynamo
currently working with the Charleston Horticultural Society after
arriving there from her previous job as Master Gardener
Coordinator - MSU Extension Education Coordinator with the Michigan
State University Extension Service in Oakland County, Michigan.
With a BA in Finance and Computer Programming, Martha left the
for-profit business world to manage the gardening program at MSUE
in 1993. Volunteer management and educational programming are the
background that allowed Martha to educate and supervise an annual
count of 1,200 Master Gardener Volunteers in a county with a
population of 1.2 million potential gardeners. She now resides in
Mt Pleasant, South Carolina, a suburb of Charleston, with her
husband John and greyhound Stanley, with children and grandchildren
in Ohio and New York
